The Whole Story

In 2021 we focused on The Whole Story by encouraging our members to read the entire Bible throughout the year, some perhaps for the first time. In 2022, we want to encourage everyone to repeat their reading journey of The Whole Story. This page contains resources to help you. Links to the sermon series is available for you. You'll also find other resources, including multiple Bible reading plans for you to choose from.

Here are some things to help you create consistency and to regroup when you get behind.

  • Tips for consistency

    • Creating healthy habits takes time, patience, and planning. Make a plan for consistency that is slightly outside your normal pattern of behavior.
    • Designate a specific time and space for you to do your Bible reading each day.
    • Set a timer. Most people can read through the entire Bible in as little as 10 minutes a day. Time yourself to create a bench mark, then read for a time period slightly longer. Not only does this give you a cushion if you miss a day, but at the end of each week you should be ahead.
    • Don't stress if you get behind. Make a clean cut and skip ahead to rejoin the schedule.

  • The Bible Recap Podcast

    This is a great resource that gives you daily Bible reading recaps. If you've missed a few days, you can listen to the corresponding episodes to catch up. You can also use this daily with your Bible reading as a way to get quick background information and insight to the scriptures you recently read.

sTUDY bIBLES

Everyone should have a good study Bible. Study Bibles are filled with commentary notes, cross references, maps, and more, which explain and provide scholarly insight into the scriptures. As you are reading through the Bible in 2021, there may be passages to which you'd like a little more explanation. Your pastors are ready and willing to help you with these questions. However, a good study Bible might give you those answers quickly and satisfactorily. Remember, commentary work is the result of human scholarship, and as such it is not infallible. What you find in a study Bible should not be treated as scripture, and it is okay to disagree with another person's interpretation. If you have any concerns or questions always contact your pastors.
